Teacher at a Christian School

My wife is teaching at a Christian school. They hired her and she was ordained by them as a minister and filled out whatever IRS form was necessary and they pay her her salary with no taxes or withholdings taken out.

Is this going to be a problem for us regarding our taxes? The Christian School is affiliated with a church and I believe it is the church that her paycheck comes from.

Thanks for any help.

From the information given she would not qualify for a clergy housing allowance. She would need to do estimated income taxes that should include Self-employment taxes and pay them quarterly.

If you want to DIY your payroll, I highly recommend you look at using Gusto! It is very user friendly and their support is awesome! Plus they know how to set up and maintain payrolls for churches and nonprofit organizations.

Note: I am a "partner" of Gusto, but as I have told you before ... I never recommend anything that we or our clients have not tried and love =)
