if a pastor is considered an employee and received a w2 from the church, with deductions of Medicare and social security can he still claim a deduction for office in home. Even if office is provided at the church.

Please be advised to read "Ministers taxes" at the link to the left of this web site, especially concerning pastor's social security taxes.

Also, a home office deduction for the pastor is not impossible, but it becomes more difficult if a church office is provided for the pastor to perform most of his/her pastoral duties. This should be left to the pastor and his/her tax preparer to figure out.
