Love offerings

We live in a rural area and pastor a church of about 100. My husband has a secular full time job.

The church a few years ago decided to take up a love offering for us every fifth Sunday which falls 3-5 times per year.

The offerings of course are always different amounts and are up to individuals to give or not give.

One tax lady told us you do not have to turn them in and then the current tax lady says you do.

How do you know?

I don't either tax ladies specialize in this area.

Yes, the funds given to the Church to pass on the Pastor must be reported as income on the Pastor's W2.

If you want to DIY your payroll, I highly recommend you look at using Gusto! It is very user friendly and their support is awesome! Plus they know how to set up and maintain payrolls for churches and nonprofit organizations.

Note: I am a "partner" of Gusto, but as I have told you before ... I never recommend anything that we or our clients have not tried and love =)
