Love gift to worship team

if we give a love gift to members of the worship team will we have to issue a 1099-misc if it is over $600.00?

Yes. The IRS considers "love gifts" to an individual that "serves" in the church...taxable income. They "classify" it as payments for those services.

For future reference, the IRS would also probably classify that worship team member...an employee and expect you to withhold and match FICA on them =(
