Correcting previous W-2 that did not have Housing Allowance subtracted from Box 1

We have discovered that the previous bookkeeper here did not subtract Housing Allowance from the pastors' salaries in Box 1 on their W-2s, and so the pastors overpaid on their taxes for those years. Am I able to correct & resubmit the W-2s so that the pastors can be refunded the difference on their taxes?

Correcting W-2

Did the pastor whose income was overstated ask you to send a corrected W-2, because he/she may have caught the error and sent an explanation with their original return? But, yes you can do corrected W-2's. Federal returns can only be amended up to 3 years.

If you want to DIY your payroll, I highly recommend you look at using Gusto! It is very user friendly and their support is awesome! Plus they know how to set up and maintain payrolls for churches and nonprofit organizations.

Note: I am a "partner" of Gusto, but as I have told you before ... I never recommend anything that we or our clients have not tried and love =)
