Christmas gifts as flow throughs

Our non profit occasionally receive personal gifts designated for our missionaries, usually at Christmas. They are non deductible and as such receive no tax deduction receipt.

Can this gift be paid to the recipient then free of federal and state taxes? As if person A were handing person B a personal gift?

Thank you!

It is my understanding that if the nonprofit sends accumulated totals of = or greater value than $600 dollars to any one individual, then a 1099 form must be submitted to the govt. and individual.

If you want to DIY your payroll, I highly recommend you look at using Gusto! It is very user friendly and their support is awesome! Plus they know how to set up and maintain payrolls for churches and nonprofit organizations.

Note: I am a "partner" of Gusto, but as I have told you before ... I never recommend anything that we or our clients have not tried and love =)
