Do you know where on the 1040a I put the amount I tithed to my church?

Thanks

Not on 1040A

Do not list tithes on IRS Tax form 1040A. That is called the short form; the only one shorter is the 1040EZ. One uses Tax form 1040 and attaches Schedule A when itemizing deductions; itemized deductions would include ones tithes on Schedule A, Section Charitable Gift, line 16. The total at the bottom of Sch. A should be more than your standard deduction for your filing classification (single, married filing jointly, married filing separately, etc.) to be to your advantage.

If you want to DIY your payroll, I highly recommend you look at using Gusto! It is very user friendly and their support is awesome! Plus they know how to set up and maintain payrolls for churches and nonprofit organizations.

Note: I am a "partner" of Gusto, but as I have told you before ... I never recommend anything that we or our clients have not tried and love =)
