Serving Religious Non-profit ... Am I Eligible?

by Bill
(California)

I have just begun serving a religious non-profit that is engaged in active ministry, but is not a church. I believe I still fulfill the 5 point test in all the functions I serve, including holding ordination, regular worship times, sacraments, leadership, etc. Am I still eligible for the clergy housing allowance?

I serve a religious non-profit since 2008 and purchased my home in 1994. I need to understand if I can exempt my home from real property taxes as of 2008.

Eligible for Housing Allowance?

Not knowing what type of organization it is, I cannot say for sure, but in the Zondervan 2011 Church and Nonprofit Tax and Financial Guide there is a whole section of guidelines on qualifying for the housing allowance.
