Retired Pastor still working but not being paid.: what tax advantages are there?

by Angus McDonald

Enjoyed reading your useful advice for pastors.

I’m a retired pastor who still evangelizes, disciples, counsels, mentors, consults, and coaches a minimum of 9-15 men weekly.

I retain a LIFETIME ORDINATION from the Evangelical Free Church of America.

I charge nothing for my services. My wife and I also make a large basement suite with bedroom and kitchen available to families free of charge (except for utilities).

Are there ANY TAX advantages for us?

No Income No Deduction ....usually
by: Vickey

As far as I know, there would not be any tax advantages or deductions available for you as there is no income ... BUT ...

I am not a tax expert, so please seek the advice of a professional that devotes their time and energy to finding tax advantages for their clients.

There may be some "volunteer" miles you could claim... if you itemize...but that is hard to do nowadays =(

Thank you for the encouraging words!
