housing expenses are higher than my housing allowance

We've had a couple of expensive, unforeseen repair and remodel expenses this year that were not included in the pre-authorized housing allowance.

Can we increase the housing allowance for this year? or, can we roll over the excess expense into next year's approved housing allowance? or, do we just have to eat the taxes on that part of taxable income used for the housing expenses? or, something else?
