Housing Allowance and the 941 Form

We do not provide a salary for our pastor, only a weekly $200.00 housing allowance. Should we include this amount on the 941 Quarterly form?

Do NOT Report Housing Allowance Payments on the 941 Form!
by: Vickey

No. Housing Allowance payments are considered nontaxable income (even though it is taxable for the recipient on a social security level), so you would not include the amounts designated and paid as a housing allowance on the quarterly 941 forms.

If you want to DIY your payroll, I highly recommend you look at using Gusto! It is very user friendly and their support is awesome! Plus they know how to set up and maintain payrolls for churches and nonprofit organizations.

Note: I am a "partner" of Gusto, but as I have told you before ... I never recommend anything that we or our clients have not tried and love =)
