when i sign up for social security does my parsonage allowance count toward my income

Answer

Anything you pay self-employment tax on such as your housing allowance will count toward your Social Security benefits as far as I know.

Parsonage Allowance

I think that this allowance counts as income, but you are ok as long as the amount does not go over $14,ooo.oo a year.

If you want to DIY your payroll, I highly recommend you look at using Gusto! It is very user friendly and their support is awesome! Plus they know how to set up and maintain payrolls for churches and nonprofit organizations.
