Donor wants to combine personal and organizational contributions. Is that ok?

by Katy

We have a member who donates to the church with a personal account, and they also run a non profit organization and contribute from that account as well.

I have always entered them seperately and they get two contribution receipts at the end of the year.

This year, he asked me to combine them. Is that ok or do they need to be kept separate?

Thank you for your help!

You're correct; he's wrong; maintain your reporting.

Personal accounting records should be kept separate from organizations accounting records.
Do as you have been doing; it is correct policy.

If you want to DIY your payroll, I highly recommend you look at using Gusto! It is very user friendly and their support is awesome! Plus they know how to set up and maintain payrolls for churches and nonprofit organizations.

Note: I am a "partner" of Gusto, but as I have told you before ... I never recommend anything that we or our clients have not tried and love =)
