Church Revenue

Having a program with the Treasurer of our church, what is church revenue and how is suppose to be brought in to show it as revenue? What is designated revenue and how is it supposed to be brought in and show on the monthly report?

Answer

Church revenue is the regular offerings/donations. Designated revenue is donations restricted by the donor for a specified purpose such as a donation for a church sign or missions, etc.

In double entry accounting, you would credit whatever income account you has set up for that revenue.

Hope this helps,

If you want to DIY your payroll, I highly recommend you look at using Gusto! It is very user friendly and their support is awesome! Plus they know how to set up and maintain payrolls for churches and nonprofit organizations.

Note: I am a "partner" of Gusto, but as I have told you before ... I never recommend anything that we or our clients have not tried and love =)
