Is this used for general maintenance on the buildings or only for special projects that are being built?

"Building Fund" would be a designated account most often set up to build new church buildings or new additions to existing churches. If the church administration committee has not specifically approved it to be for maintenance then it should not be used for that. So it really depends on the specifics of the administrative action when setting up the account.

I would agree and second the previous reply, fund to go toward new build or improvements of existing buildings, not for Maintenance.

If you want to DIY your payroll, I highly recommend you look at using Gusto! It is very user friendly and their support is awesome! Plus they know how to set up and maintain payrolls for churches and nonprofit organizations.

Note: I am a "partner" of Gusto, but as I have told you before ... I never recommend anything that we or our clients have not tried and love =)
