Which Church Accounting Software Is Best?

(Delmar, MD)

Question regarding church accounting software:

I am the pastor of a 3 months old church. We have about 15 members and I am currently the one doing the books.

I have no prior accounting experience. When we started we started out with 7 people and now were up to 15 and I can see us growing even more.

I am looking for software that can grow with us, user friendly, that even a person like me with no accounting experience can use until the Lord brings us a person who knows how to do it.

We're looking for something that is not expensive. If you can help that would be great.

Answer

My church started out with 7 members too. We are now over 100. Growing a church from the ground up is both hard work and very rewarding.

As I stated on my church accounting software page, I have not personally used any church accounting software beside my spreadsheets. So hopefully some financial administrators from churches your size will take a moment to submit a comment (click the link below)and share what they use and like.

With the size of your church right now, you may want to use a simple spreadsheet until you find the software you are happy with.

Whatever you choose, I would make sure it has a good guarantee and support system (that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg).

Church Accounting Software
by: Dan

There is a new Church Accounting Software that is inexpensive, simple and includes a database. Aplos was designed specifically for church plants and small churches. It was designed for a volunteer who is not an accountant. Try it free for 15 days - www.aplossoftware.com.

Chronicles - a really good one!

I found Chronicles, a church accounting & membership information system, developed by a company called Harmonica Technologies, to be an excellent, easy to to use package. You can download a 35 day free trial version from www.chroniclesaccounting.com

If you want to DIY your payroll, I highly recommend you look at using Gusto! It is very user friendly and their support is awesome! Plus they know how to set up and maintain payrolls for churches and nonprofit organizations.

Note: I am a "partner" of Gusto, but as I have told you before ... I never recommend anything that we or our clients have not tried and love =)
