Question:
What is the standard definition of Severance Pay, and how is it used on your employees?
I was always under the impression severance pay was used if you terminate an employee and/or they quit and don't give a two week notice.
Is it ever used to pay an employee extra weeks wages just because the church wants to help out the employee?
It seems like it should be called a "bonus" or something other than severance pay.
Can anyone give examples in their Personnel Policy of how they define "severance pay"? Thank you.

If you want to DIY your payroll, I highly recommend you look at using Gusto! It is very user friendly and their support is awesome! Plus they know how to set up and maintain payrolls for churches and nonprofit organizations.

Note: I am a "partner" of Gusto, but as I have told you before ... I never recommend anything that we or our clients have not tried and love =)
