Acknowledgement of money gifts to Foundation to be included on annual giving statement from the church

Our church has a separate Foundation to administer funds donated to specific Trusts. It has been our practice to send out an acknowledgement and thank you letter to donors. A member who also makes regular weekly giving donations to the church has asked if we can include the donations to the Foundation along with the annual giving statement of gifts to the Church. He appreciates the acknowledgement letter, but for ease in filing his taxes would like all his gifts combined on one statement. Both the church and the Foundation have the same taxpayer I.D. number. There is a concern that we should not send out both an acknowledgement letter AND include the amount on the annual giving statement. Is this concern warranted?

With only one tax ID number, it sounds like they could be placed on one statement for everyone, but to be on the safe side I would call the IRS toll free number and talk to someone in the churches and nonprofits department about this.

If you want to DIY your payroll, I highly recommend you look at using Gusto! It is very user friendly and their support is awesome! Plus they know how to set up and maintain payrolls for churches and nonprofit organizations.

Note: I am a "partner" of Gusto, but as I have told you before ... I never recommend anything that we or our clients have not tried and love =)
