Our current pastor has been receiving a 1099 & in reading your site I think he should be getting a W-2. How to start the process? Do you have to have software programs etc? We are a very small church.

you will need the church to sign a letter they send and once you get that mailed in you can do the W-2/W-3 online
so much better than paying someone else to file for you :-)
Our church makes the council review the W-2 against the book reports prior to the final submission.
