OUR PASTOR IS PAID AS A SELF EMPLOYED MINISTER. I DO GIVE HIM A W-2 EVERY YEAR. WHAT FORMS DO I NEED HIM TO SIGN WHEN HE IS HIRED (W-4, NEW HIRE REPORTING FORM, ETC)?
WE HAVE NO OTHER EMPLOYEES, DO NOT PAY WORKER'S COMPENSATION, ETC.
HE RECEIVES SALARY AND HOUSING ALLOWANCE.

Pastor as self employed

So if your Pastor gets a weekly salary that is strictly salary and not housing can they still get a W-2?
Confrused Self Employed Minister

No, the originator of this question is correct ... a W2 is the proper IRS form to report the Self Employed Minister's income, housing allowance and any other income that the Church might pay him.

If he is paid as a self employed minister why do you give him a w2? Shouldnt you give him a 1099?
