501(3)c Non profit organization (not a church). Can I pay a pastor who is not on payroll a love offering gift? He receives a housing allowance and claims it on his own personal income tax.

You can give "your own" money as a love offering to anyone you choose (pastor or not, on payroll or not). You just cannot necessarily claim a deduction on your own income taxes for doing it.

You asked no questions about the housing allowance, but I would have questions there. Read more information by clicking on the blue tabs to the left on "housing allowance and pastor appreciation."

If you want to DIY your payroll, I highly recommend you look at using Gusto! It is very user friendly and their support is awesome! Plus they know how to set up and maintain payrolls for churches and nonprofit organizations.

Note: I am a "partner" of Gusto, but as I have told you before ... I never recommend anything that we or our clients have not tried and love =)
