Pastor endorses check and puts in offering

If a pastor receives a check (from a parishioner) made out to him, then endorses the check and gives it to the church without cashing it-- should that count as an offering from him and show up on his giving statement from the church?

First, 2nd party checks should probably be discouraged; however, the check is his so it would be a gift from him to be acknowledged that way in my opinion.
