No need to purchase Microsoft Office you can download a free software that allows you to use the same type programs and even save the documents with .doc, .xls, ppt, etc.

Yes it works but...

Yes, Open Office Software is truly free and creates documents that can be saved as Microsoft Word .doc format or Open Office format or other formats.

Open Office is not as pretty as the new Microsoft Office Suite-- but your documents look just as pretty.

Open Office is simple to use.

...but if you love the look of Microsoft Word and all the templates that come with Word then you will miss them with Open Office.

On the positive side Open Office has all the features you need to produce excellent looking documents. I use both applications because young people have learned Microsoft Office at school and do not have the patience to learn anything that looks or acts differently than what they already know.

If you want to DIY your payroll, I highly recommend you look at using Gusto! It is very user friendly and their support is awesome! Plus they know how to set up and maintain payrolls for churches and nonprofit organizations.

Note: I am a "partner" of Gusto, but as I have told you before ... I never recommend anything that we or our clients have not tried and love =)
