Mail contribution statement or make available online?

Must a church mail a physical contribution statement to people who donated cash to the church, or will an electronic copy suffice?

If the person is willing to receive the statement via e-mail there should be no problem.

I would have the church make a form for them to sign with their e-mail address just to have verification on file...

or if they request it from the church keep a copy of the request
