I was doing an internship at my church, and at the end of the internship, a member of the church gave a love offering to the pastor, his wife, one other employee, and myself.
Now I am receiving a 1099 for this love offering. Although, I was not an employee of the church.
My question is this:
Is this love offering to me, taxable? I know the member who gave the offering is getting this deducted.

Love Offering taxable?
DD Fry
Yes, it is taxable income.
The church is required to issue a 1099-misc if the amount paid to anyone exceeds $600 in a year.
It should be noted that even if the amount didn't exceed $600, and the church didn't have to issue a 1099, the amount is still taxable income to the recipient, and should be reported.

Yes. The love offering is taxable income.
1099-MISC are for non-employees, so the church was correct in issuing you the 1099.
