How do you treat Visa Gift Cards that someone wants to use as payment?

We have another church that attends our church camp & this year they gave us visa gift cards to pay for part of their registration fees, which our person in charge of camp used for camp expenses. My question is, do I book this amount the same as if we would have received cash? And then book the expenses against it?

Thanks for the help!

That sounds like the most straight forward and least confusing way to handle.

If you want to DIY your payroll, I highly recommend you look at using Gusto! It is very user friendly and their support is awesome! Plus they know how to set up and maintain payrolls for churches and nonprofit organizations.

Note: I am a "partner" of Gusto, but as I have told you before ... I never recommend anything that we or our clients have not tried and love =)
