Housing allowance

Our pastor has been with us two years, received a 1099 for the previous tax year. This year he does not want a 1099 so that he can get a housing allowance. How do we go about this? Thank you!

First you need to read more about Housing Allowances on the tab to the left below, and you need to get him to do the same. Housing allowance are not determined or set up by the income reporting form used by the church for reporting the pastor's pay.

If you want to DIY your payroll, I highly recommend you look at using Gusto! It is very user friendly and their support is awesome! Plus they know how to set up and maintain payrolls for churches and nonprofit organizations.

Note: I am a "partner" of Gusto, but as I have told you before ... I never recommend anything that we or our clients have not tried and love =)
