Gift of appreciation when pastor resigns

Question?

A minister resigns as of a specific date. The church decides to give a gift in the amount of a full months pay to be issued at the celebration one month later? Is this money included in his final W2 or should a 1099 be issued for this amount?

Thank you I am the Treasurer of a local body of believers.

If you want to DIY your payroll, I highly recommend you look at using Gusto! It is very user friendly and their support is awesome! Plus they know how to set up and maintain payrolls for churches and nonprofit organizations.

Note: I am a "partner" of Gusto, but as I have told you before ... I never recommend anything that we or our clients have not tried and love =)
