Our pastor wants utilities set up to come out of main church account electronically each month. Is this good to do from documentation standpoint for the church or should a check be written each month?

I am not positive on this but I believe it is allowable to pay direct as long as you have supporting documentation.
However make sure the board approves and the housing allowance is adjusted accordingly and you include the amounts in the end of year housing allowance reported on the W-2 box 14.
