How to write a receipt of church charitable donations?

Answer

Except for Form 1098-C, used for gifts of autos, boats, or airplanes, the IRS does not dictate what form your charitable receipt must be.

It can be a letter, a postcard, or a computer-generated form. It does not have to have the donor’s social security number or other taxpayer identification number.

It can even be provided electronically, such as via an email addressed to the donor. There is no requirement for the receipt to be signed.

The only required information for your church receipt is your church’s name, donor’s name, date of donation, and amount of donation.

It must also something similar to the following statement: "You did not receive any goods or services in connection with these contributions other than intangible religious benefits".

Hope this helps,
