What if we agreed for the church to withhold SS, Fica, and income tax?

I have been paid, for 9 years, as a church employee, including withholding of income, fica, and ss. I read above that churches cannot do this, but I'm a party to them doing it, as they asked me and I agreed to it. Are we in trouble for that? I was hired as a youth pastor, then was an interim pastor, and now am finishing my first year as lead pastor.

tax questions?
by: Lewis in NC

As individuals we are ultimately responsible for our own tax situations with the government. So when April 15th rolls around, ministers will sign their own tax forms and settle up with the government. So if things have gone wrong before then, it will be the appropriate time to set things RIGHT by April 15th. Ministers pay their Social Security taxes as if they are self-employed--they are "dual-status" taxpayers.
