Non Cash Donations for Youth Garage Sale

by Jody
(Jacksonville, Fl)

How do I handle contribution statements for non cash donations given to the youth garage sale?

Answer

A written receipt should be issued for all non-cash contributions.

See an example of a noncash contribution receipt

Make sure it includes the receiving organization’s name, the donor’s name, the date of gift, description of gift, and something similar to the following statement:

You did not receive any goods or services in connection with these contributions other than intangible religious benefits".

You do not include an amount. The valuation is the responsibility of the donor.

Hope this helps,
