What are the guidelines for a church trustee giving a love offering to those in need (homeless)?

Answer

That depends. If you are talking about yourself, there are no guidelines for giving a love offering to those in need.

If you are talking about taking church funds to help those in needs, most churches set up a written policy for their benevolence funds.

Zondervan 2009 Church and Nonprofit Tax and Financial Guide has some excellent guidelines on pages 196 and 197 on properly setting up a benevolence fund.

Or you could google “benevolence fund” and see some examples of other churches' written benevolence funds policies.
